1974 Alfa Romeo GTV
Purchased in California in 1994, I've owned this car since. It spent about a year in Texas then it came back to PA, where it has resided, ever since. For a couple of years, I used it as my daily driver, but in 1998, took it off the road. At that time, the engine was freshened and the body was stripped to bare metal, some small rust spots were fixed and it was repainted 501 red with PPG Concept urethane (base/clear). Since that time, it has been driven few miles each year, but has seen a number of miles on the track. In order to make it competitive in time trials, I made the following modifications, some of which I have recently undone:
- Bolt-In Roll Bar (currently removed)
- Corbeau Front Seats with Five-Point Harnesses (currently, the stock seats are back in)
- Ward and Deane Race Springs and Shankle Anti-Roll Bars
- Adjustable Upper Links at Front with Spherical Bearings
- Panhard Bar
- Koni Yellow Shocks
- Urethane Suspension Bushings
- SS Brake Lines, Cockpit Adjustable Brake Bias and Porterfield Pads
- Wes Ingram Race FI Pump with Cockpit Adjustable F/A Ratio (currently the stock pump is installed)
- Lots of other little details....The car has been extremely reliable and essentially bullet-proof on the track and road. I drove it to Watkins Glen last year and continue to drive it in Alfa club events. With the race FI pump and lots of negative camber dialed in, it is a bit of a beast on the street, so I recently put the stock pump back in and set the camber to a more reasonable - 1/2 degree.
